Textured Ceilings are considered a Friable Activity and therefore a Class A Removal. Friable activity is basically when you disturb or release the Asbestos Fibres from the state it has been contained within. As opposed to Class B Asbestos Removal where you the Fibres are contained in their current environment. So for instance Removing Asbestos Cladding where you keep it intact and don't break it up and remove in whole pieces.

Rightly so if you are removing from say the lounge of a house you would not want the rest of the House to be contaminated.
John says once you have identified the Removal Area you must encapsulate it within a Plastic Tent using Tape and Staples and the Plastic must be 200 micron thick(2 Layers). This tent will be smoke tested to make sure no air can escape. Then we add on a 3 stage Decontamination chambers to make sure what goes in and out of the Removal area is properly Decontaminated. Then you must add a Negative Pressure Unit (NPU) that basically works as an extractor fan and purifies the air and recycles it.
Personnel then have to fit themselves out with Full Face Masks that are fed with Oxygen and other PPE.
Then the Cleaning up has to be in a Prescribed way while an independent Asbestos Assessor monitors the Air and has a 4 stage Checking Regime they must undertake.
